With all the pieces seemingly coming together for the Royals, it got me thinking of the Royals HR record. Steve Balboni currently holds the record at 36, which is rather low for a franchise. With Moose, Hosmer, Butler and Gordon as the Royals potential power hitters I was thinking Balboni's record may be broken in the next 5 or so years. Butlers career high is 21, Gordon hit a career high 23 last year, Moose hit 5 last year as a rookie and Hosmer hit 19 as a rookie last year.

FWIW
Only eight players hit 36 HR last year.
Six the year before that.

I think it will be the Royals 4th round draft pick in 2015
And he’ll break the record in 2021. Book it.

I'll put $1
on those odds

Psh, way to be vague about it
I predict his name will be Chace Whittington.
RoyalsRetro - February 20, 2012
Unless of course
they draft a pitcher
beltran42 - February 20, 2012
Tell that to Rick Ankiel
RoyalPug - February 20, 2012
I predict Bolt Powerson.

McKinney, quit it with the funny business.
It ruins my image of you as a relentless argument winning machine. I prefer to think of you as some kind of smiley faced boxer wearing Borg, not an actual human being with a wry sense of humor.

Maybe I’m softening in my old age. I’m not even wearing the boxers full-time anymore. I’m at least 50% commando nowadays.

100% Here

I typically don't even wear pants
Nighthawk at the Diner - February 23, 2012
I thought that was a given
Scott McKinney - February 23, 2012
No pants. Eye patch. Corn cob pipe.
Wrestling shoes. Burberry scarf. Tuxedo t-shirt. Leather ball strap.
Nighthawk at the Diner - February 23, 2012
Leather ball strap? My, aren’t you fancy. I use nylon, like my father and my father’s father before me and that suits us just fine. We aren’t for putting on airs and the like.
Scott McKinney - February 23, 2012
Perhaps you are right....the leather ballstrap is a bit showy.
And I thought I’d catch grief for the Burberry scarf.
Nighthawk at the Diner - February 23, 2012
I actually use my Burberry scarf for a ball strap,
but I’m a utilitarian.

In My Day
We made ball straps out of squirrel leather……AND WE LIKED IT!

What Are These
Pants of which you speak?
philofthenorth - February 23, 2012
Maybe the draft will be international by then
And the Royals will discover that working class British kids are the new market inefficiency. They know nothing about baseball, but they’re raised on porridge and grit. The HR record will be broken by Karl Pilkington Jr.

It is somewhat sad that we talk about this a lot.
36 is so astronomically low. I had high hopes that Hamelin/Sweeney/Dye/Quinn would shatter it at one time.
PhattStairs - February 20, 2012
Yeah, I think the last serious challengers
Were guys like Dean Palmer, Gary Gaetti and Chili Davis.
thelaundry - February 20, 2012
And Ken Harvey
RoyalsRetro - February 20, 2012
You mean All Star Ken Harvey
thelaundry - February 20, 2012
No one wasn't an option, so I didn't vote.
Old Man Duggan - February 21, 2012
Not Sure
philofthenorth - February 22, 2012
The real question is:
How long will it take for Yuni to break the Royals grand slam record?mitchfreakingmaier! - February 21, 2012
Hosmer, Moustakas, Gordon
And maybe Butler have a chance.
philofthenorth - February 22, 2012
It could be someone else, even.
ChrisCEIT - February 23, 2012
Jarrod Dyson
